Description
Some of the last North Korean or Chinese prisoners of war (POWs), from Koje-do Island, struggling up the ramp on crutches as they disembark from Landing Ship Tank (LST) 1096, at Inchon, South Korea. He and thousands of his kind were soon to be transported by US army buses for the journey to the agreed location for POW exchange as part of Operation Little Switch or Operation Big Switch. This photograph is one of a series taken by Australian Mr Douglas (Doug) Bushby in his capacity as a UN accredited War Correspondent. Mr Bushby devoted much of his time to missionary work amongst Korean refugees, orphans and North Korean and Chinese prisoners of war.
