Description

Punmanjom. A just released allied prisoner of war (POW) wearing a blue overcoat, is stretchered away from the handover area for medical treatment. A US Army H19 helicopter, from the 6th or 13th Transportation Helicopter Company, waits on a landing pad at left rear and a US Air Force officer observes proceedings at left. He has been repatriated as part of Operation Little Switch at Punmanjom. This photograph is one of a series taken by Australian Mr Douglas (Doug) Bushby in his capacity as a UN accredited War Correspondent. Mr Bushby devoted much of his time to missionary work amongst Korean refugees, orphans and North Korean and Chinese prisoners of war.
