Looking across a valley from Australian positions held by men of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR), at the Hook feature shortly after the ceasefire. The completely denuded hill tops at centre probably mark them as enemy positions heavily bombed by the US Air Force or by artillery fire. Chinese soldiers are standing on the ridgeline in the foreground and have raised communist flags. The group later fraternized with Australian troops, one even presenting a red 'peace' flag to the Australians. One of a series of photographs taken by the Australian Mr Douglas (Doug) Bushby in his capacity as a UN accredited War Correspondent. Mr Bushby devoted much of his time to relief and missionary work amongst Korean refugees, orphans and North Korean and Chinese prisoners of war.
