The winter conditions in Korea are rough on the transport men of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR). Icy road conditions are a nightmare for the drivers, and their costly equipment requires constant attention to avoid serious damage in the sub zero temperatures. Here transport driver 34402 Private Reginald Pilbeam of Rosebud, Vic, wipes the frost from the windscreen of his jeep before setting out on the day's work. Before joining the Australian Army he worked for the transport firm of T B Armstrong of Rye, and was a playing member of the Rosebud Soccer Club.
