Nearly five years ago 51372 Lieutenant (Lt) Brian James Heenan (right), of North Cottesloe, WA, fought alongside Korean Army Captain Sang Seob Song at the battle of Kapyong, which earned a Presidential Citation for the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). Lt Heenan was then a corporal, and Captain Song was the Korean liaison officer serving with the Australian forces. Both officers are again serving with the Commonwealth Division of the Korean truce line (demilitarised zone), Lt Heenan as the mortar officer of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), and Captain Song as the commanding officer of a Korean guard company.
