Informal group portrait of Captain (Capt) Gregory Michael Knowles, (left) with a local male and three East Timorese children. Capt Knowles, a member of Charlie Company, 5/7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, (5/7 RAR), who were the first Australians to visit East Timor since 1942. This group of 21 photographs relate to the service of Capt Knowles, who completed two tours of duty, 1999 to early 2000 with Charlie Company, 5/7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, (5/7 RAR) and in 2002 with 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR).
