Greek minesweepers, Beirut, 1943
Description
Two Greek minesweepers in the harbour in Beirut, Lebanon, in September 1943. The harbour in Beriut was one of two bases (the other, Port Said) for a series of convoy escorts to Castellorizo during the struggle for the Dodecanese Islands in October 1943. HMAS 'Ipswich' played a central role in these operations.
