Description

Collection relating to the service of VX25445 Private Francis Victor Spielvogel, 2/29 Field Ambulance, Second World War.

Wallet 1 of 1 - comprises three hand-drawn certificates from the Changi Prisoner of War Lodge Number 1 GLE [Grand Lodge, Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes of England]. Also contained in the collection is a programme for the Anzac Day Remembrance Service held by the Lodge of Remembrance Lodge No 154 at the Scout Hall, Ethel Street, Thornbury, 25 April 2002.

History / Summary

The Buffalo Lodge in the prisoner of war camp in Changi was formed in 1943. The first meeting was held on the lawn of House 45, Selandang. It was decided to have an Emblem and Membership certificate printed at the cost of 5 cents. Three certificates were issued to Private Spielvogel certifying his membership of 'Changi POW No 1 Lodge', 1943.
