Description
Buring speaks of the role of engineers of the squadron - clearing mines and booby traps, building landing zones, constructing roads and the airfield at Nui Dat; tasks in the field, for example, the clearance and demolition of the tunnel network in Long Phuoc; reopening of Route 23 from Dat Do to Xuyen Moc and subsequently building an airfield there; specific tasks, for example, the ‘tunnel rats' within the engineer detachment; supervising the construction of the roads, and market place at Xuyen Moc - part of the civic action program in Phuoc Tuy Province.
