Matthews, also known as "Captain Coffee Pot", speaks of his philanthropic role in the Australian Army; his previous service experience; some comparisons between the Salvation Army's role in New Guinea in the Second World War and in South Vietnam in the Vietnam War; his accompanying troops on operations and the need to refer soldiers to their own chaplains as required; the general support available for the Battalion.
