Group portrait of A Company, 42nd Infantry Battalion, CMF, during their annual camp. Identified are: Sergeant Eddie Fewings, an Aboriginal serviceman (standing, left) (who later became Platoon Sergeant) and 2nd Lieutenant (later Lieutenant) William Ewart Gladstone, platoon commander (third from left, front row). The men are holding a variety of weapons including Bren guns, Owen guns, Short Magazine Lee Enfields (SMLE) and a 2 inch mortar.
