Part of Lancaster bomber LM338 of 467 Squadron, RAAF, wedged in a tree. The aircraft crashed whilst on operations over France at 1.30 am on 8 July 1944 - there were no survivors. Crew members were: 419481 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Leonard Haig Porritt, RAAF, 467 Squadron RAF; 418012 Pilot Officer Philip Wyatt Ryan, RAAF; 1591247 Sergeant George Arthur Hayes, RAF, flight engineer; 415032 Warrant Officer Clifford Cecil Jones, RAAF; 425605 Flt Sgt Verne Edward Cockroft, RAAF; 408443 Flt Sgt William Deldon Douglas Killworth, RAAF; 429643 Flt Sgt James Pat Steffan, RAAF.
