Description
With the rotors still spinning, this 9 Squadron, RAAF, UH-1H Iroquois helicopter has just landed on the sealed roadway of Route 2 in Phuoc Tuy Province, where it waits to pick up an injured Australian soldier after his truck had run off the road. The injured soldier is being hurriedly carried by stretcher towards the waiting helicopter (right). This medical evacuation is known as 'Dust Off' and the injured person will be air lifted to the Australian Military Hospital at Vung Tau which takes about 30 minutes flying from this location. Note the two M113A1 armoured personnel carriers (APC's) and the International L5 6x6 5 ton truck (right).
