Informal portrait of Dr A H (Hugh) Ennor (physiologist), Australian Chemical Research and Experimental Section (left), and Surgeon Lieutenant Trevor Alexander Mclean, RAN (right). The section carried out experiments using mustard gas and other chemical warfare agents, and researched the effects of the chemicals on human volunteers. Dr Ennor was a biochemist at the Baker Medial Research Institute, Melbourne, Vic between 1938 and 1942, a researcher with the services and Munitions Department between 1942 and 1946 and former professor of Biochemistry, Australian National University from 1948. He was knighted after this period.
