Studio portrait of 1969 Gunner (Gnr) Jack Leslie Mills, 2nd Divisional Trench Mortar Battery, of Newtown, NSW. A carpet planner at Beard Watson prior to enlisting on 11 June 1915, Gnr Milles embarked from Sydney, NSW, aboard HMAT Runic on 9 August 1915. He was killed in action on the Somme, France, on 26 September 1916, aged 23.
