Studio portrait of 2919 Private (Pte) George Frederick Thompson, 13th Battalion, of East Sydney, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting on 20 July 1915, Pte Thompson embarked from Sydney, NSW, aboard HMAT Argyllshire on 30 September 1915. Lance Corporal Thompson was killed in action at Bullecourt, France, on 17 April 1917, aged 25. His brother, 664 Pte Wilmore Harry Thompson was killed in action at Pozieres, France, on 4 August 1916.
