Studio portrait of 971 Private Bertric Edgar Saxon, 19th Battalion, of Newtown, NSW. An ice carter prior to enlisting on 12 February 1915, he embarked from Melbourne, Vic, aboard HMAT Ceramic on 25 June 1915. He was killed in action on 23 August 1916, at Pozieres, France, aged 20.
