Description

At a memorial service for 219663 Trooper (Tpr) David Gerard Doyle who was accidentally killed in Phuoc Tuy Province on 31 July 1970, one of the three chaplains officiating at the ceremony reads a lesson, while the other two padres stand behind him (right). A trestle table in front of the chaplains serves as an altar. At rear, members of Tpr Doyle's unit, B Squadron, 3 Cavalry Regiment, listen attentively to the lesson and bow their heads in respect. About 140 men are attending the inter-denominational service, many of them having been briefly relieved of operational commitments so that they could return to the 1ATF base for the commemoration of their fallen comrade.
