Description
Battalion Padre Father John "Tink" Tinkler holding a church service on the verandah of an old abandoned French villa, which was seriously bombed out, on Operation Nowra, 8 August - 6 September. The soldiers are sitting on empty jerry cans as the mud was so deep that they were starting to sink like quicksand. They all appear to be members of 8 Platoon, C Company. Behind Pegler is 2787228 Private Ross David Brogan and beside him is Private Jim "Budda" McDonald. The other men are unidentified.
