Informal portrait of Evelyn and Bill (Buster) Frewen, taken at home in Niji Mura village, Christmas 1951. Evelyn, aged nine, is wearing a kimono, a traditional Japanese garment and Bill is wearing a cowboy outfit given to them for Christmas by their parents Jessie and WX19115 William Allen Frewen. The Frewens were one of the hundreds of Australian families allowed to accompany their soldier fathers to Japan during their service with the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF).
