Description

Officers collar badge. The letters 'CFS' within a laurel wreath and surmounted by an Imperial crown. At the base a banner with 'AUSTRALIA'. The reverse of the badge has two silver lugs for attachment.

History / Summary

The Central Flying School was formed at Point Cook, Victoria in March 1913. During the First World War the CFS trained over 150 pilots for service with the Australian Flying Corps. The school was disbanded after the war, but was reformed in 1940 to train pilots for the Second World War.
