Unofficial uniform patch : Corporal D R Field, 35 Squadron RAAF
Description
Unofficial 35 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force uniform patch. The round embroidered patch shows a red caribou silhouette in the centre and the words '35 SQN RAAF 1934 1972 VUNGTAU THE FORGOTTEN. 35TH.'.
History / Summary
Associated with the service of A223491 Corporal David Ronald Field, born 4 June 1945. Field served in South Vietnam as an engine fitter with 35 Squadron RAAF from 18 March 1971 to 5 February 1972. Members of the squadron had this uniform patch made while they were in Vung Tau after an Australian newspaper incorrectly reported in December 1971 that all Australian service personnel had returned from Vietnam. 35 Squadron did not leave Vietnam until 19 February 1972.
