Collar badge: South African Union Defence General Service 1940-1945
Description
South African General Service cap badge in the form of a circle with a central void inscribed in English and Afrikaans 'Union Is Strength' - 'Eendracht Maakt Macht'. Within the circle is the head of a Springbok facing left. The badge has two lugs with and a split pin on the back.
History / Summary
Badge collected NX93640 Craftsman Thomas Sydney Turner who served with Army Water Transport, Royal Australian Engineers, during the Second World War. Turner enlisted on 25 March 1942 and was discharged on 8 January 1946.
