Portrait of Sgt. V Porreca 1944
Description
Studio portrait of N461266 Corporal (Cpl) Oliviero Porreca. Born in Turin, Italy, in 1903 Porreca migrated to Australia and married in 1930. He was naturalised in 1936. His father, Olivieri (?) Potito Porreca was a professor at the Royal Military Academy, Turin. Cpl Porreca enlisted in the Australian Army in Sydney on 6 July 1942. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and served at the Murchison Prisoner of War Camp, Tatura, Victoria. The camp included Italian prisoners.
