Description

Silver right hand officers' collar badge. An emu central on a ground over 'XIV' and a banner with 'FORWARD' in blue enamel. There are two lugs soldered on reverse with removable pin.

History / Summary

Badge worn by the 14th Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry) between 1903 and 1912. With the army reorganisation of 1903, the 2nd Battalion, Queensland Mounted Infantry was renamed 14th Australian Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry). It was part of the 5th Light Horse Brigade and was made up of four squadrons; 1 Squadron at Toowoomba, 2 Squadron at Clifton and Allora, 3 Squadron at Warwick and Stanthorpe, 4 Squadron at Dalby and Roma. The 14th Light Horse Regiment wore khaki uniforms with white facings and emu feathers in their hats.
