Studio portrait of Able Seaman Ronald Matthew Vogt. Able Seaman Vogt was born in Blyth, Vic, and was the oldest of ten siblings. He enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 19 February 1940. Following training at HMAS Cerberus in Victoria, he joined the crew of HMAS Sydney [II] on 12 January 1941. He was killed in action when HMAS Sydney was sunk after the action with the German raider Kormoran in the Indian Ocean on 20 November 1941.
