Studio portrait of 3787 Private (later Lance Corporal) Walter Laurie, 15th Battalion, of Cordalba, Qld. Son of James and Mrs P. M. Laurie, brother of 409 Private William James Laurie. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suffolk (A23) on 30 November 1915. He was wounded in action at Hebuterne, France and died of his wounds in France on 28 March 1918, aged 23. He is buried in Gommecourt British Cemetery No 2 Hebuterne, France..
