Studio portrait of 1047 Pte (Trooper) Montague Charles Melly, 7th Light Horse Regiment, of Bondi, NSW. Husband of Ada Melly. A baker prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Uganda (A66) on 15 June 1915. He died on 21 September 1916 of wounds received in action on 7 September 1916 at Kantara, Egypy, aged 41. He is buried in the Kantara War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
