Description

Grave at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery of Second Lieutenant Leonard Jeffery Helliar, 236th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, who was killed in action on 14 May 1917, aged 21. This photograph is mounted on a card and is an example of a commercial enterprise whereby a company had the rights to sell photographs of graves. On the back of the card are printed the following details: 'With compliments from Capt H H CHANTER MC. THE WAR GRAVES WREATH Coy. LA PANNE. BELGIUM. Additional mounted copies of this photograph can be had for 1/- each or 5/- per half dozen. Photograph of cemetery 1/6 each. Handsome sepia toned enlargements can be had for 5/6 each.' The details of the grave and cemetery are handwritten on the back, 'Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery. Poperinghe. Plot 10. Row A. Grave 16.'
