History / Summary

Captain Moore was in command of 18 Platoon B Company 39th Battalion at Gona. He discusses dispositions across Gona Creek; standing or 'blocking' patrol; recollections of the Gona battle; observations of Lt Haddy 2/16th and Charforce attacking and sniping at Japanese across the creek in Gona Mission; his observation of Lt Bob Doughterty's counter attack against westward moving enemy force; blocking the Japanese from Amboga River and recollections of the final fall of Haddy's Village.
