Description

Olive drab coloured standard issue United States Air Force flying suit. Made from meta-aramid, para-aramid and conductive fiber. Dark blue embroidered rank of captain on both shoulders. Velcro patches above both breast pockets and on upper sleeves. The suit has a front zipper opening with twin zip fasteners running from neck to crutch, and there are four ventilation holes under each arm. The suit has two breast pockets, a pocket on the upper right arm, and two pockets each side at the hip and calf. All have zipper closures. The suit has vertical zippers fastenings at the ankle openings, and Velcro with cotton tabs for size adjustment at the waist and cuffs.

History / Summary

This item was collected from HMAS Kanimbla during Operation Slipper in 2001 and 2002. It was worn by a United States Air Force service person from 20 Bomb Squadron, which was stationed at Diego Garcia and conducted operational sorties to Afghanistan from there. This unit flies B-52 Stratofortress bombers and is normally based at Barksdale Air Force Base Louisiana.
