Captain James Walley
Description
Portrait of Captain (Capt) James Walley, of London, England. After spending 18 years in the British Army, including service during the Boer War, Walley served in the 25th Company, Australian Army Service Corps where he was awarded the Croix de Guerre for actions during the allied advance in August 1918. Walley is wearing German hobnail boots, commonly worn by German troops in the latter stages of the war.
