The entrance to the Bowling Alley road, Hill 355 (Little Gibraltar or Kowang San). The sign reads 'BOWLING ALLEY. THIS ROAD IS CLOSED DURING DAYLIGHT'. The 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) were serving in the area at this time. The chances of being shelled were high if soldiers travelled on this road during daylight hours.
