Collection relating to the Second World War service of 403380 Flying Officer James Alexander Saint-Smith DFC, DFM, No. 8 Elementary Flight Training School, Royal Australian Air Force, Australia, 1941.
Wallet 1 of 1 consists of one two-page letter from Flying Officer James Saint-Smith (who was then a leading aircraftman), to one of his former students at Yullundry Public School, 11 year old John Earle Mostyn. The letter, dated 1 April 1941, was written from No. 8 Elementary Flying Training School, Narrandera, New South Wales. In it, Saint-Smith writes about having both fun and hard work while in training, chasing his friends about while flying, and missing his students. He also encourages John in his studies.
