Description

Heavy duty grey cotton drill Royal Australian Navy working overalls with reflective strips on the arms and Velcro fastenings at the collar, wrists and ankles. The overalls are fastened down the front by a series of press studs. There are two patch breast pockets both are fastened with metal press studs. A pen pocket is located on the upper left hand sleeve. A grey cotton tape sewn above the right breast pocket is machine embroidered in black cotton with the name 'MORRISON' . A pair of Australian Defence Force Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform (DPCU) rank slides for rank of commander are on the shoulder rank slides. There is a patch pocket on both the left and right thigh with both flaps being secured by two press studs. There are two slash pockets at the hips and a rear patch pocket on the right. The manufacturers details have been washed out of the tag.

History / Summary

These overalls are associated with the service of Commander Robert Gale Morrison, Commanding Officer of HMAS Manoora during 24 January 2002 to 19 July 2002 as part of Operation Slipper. For his distinguished performance of duty as the Commanding Officer of HMAS Manoora in the Persian Gulf during Operation Slipper, Commander Morrison received the Commendation for Distinguished Service (CDS) in the 2003 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
