Associated with Warrant Officer L F Skinner, 2/2 Battalion, AIF. Born at Leeton, NSW on 14 July 1923, Laurence Frederick (Laurie) Skinner was living in Earlwood NSW and serving in the Australian Military Forces, when he enlisted in the Second AIF on 3 October 1942. Skinner served with a Motor Transport Company with the Australian Army Service Corps (AASC), then 6 Division HQ and later with 2/2 Battalion rising to the rank of warrant officer class 2. Skinner saw service in the South West Pacific Area and received his discharge in July 1946. Laurie Skinner died in 2004. Skinner's grandfather Henry Edward 'Harry' Skinner served in the Sudan with the British Royal Marines and in the First World War with 4 Battalion, AIF. His father, Francis Leonard (Len) Skinner, and brother, Harold Leonard Skinner, both served with the Australian Army during the Second World War. His second brother, Roy Edwin Skinner served with the Citizen Military Forces (militia) and later the Australian Regular Army and saw extensive service with the United Nations in the Middle East.
