Looking up to the top of the ridge and the well proteced facilities built into the hillside at the company base at Gumbang occupied by A Company, 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (4RAR) between April and September 1966. The sign in front of the Regimental Aid Post (RAP) reads: GUMBAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CUSTOMS (arrow to the left) LADIES POWDERROOM SECOND ON LEFT GENTS SAME PLACE END OF THE WORLD 100M STRAIGHT AHEAD !HELL!!. There is also a bus stop sign to the left of the larger sign. This was the most southerly of the 4RAR company positions and was located on a ridge line close to the Sarawak-Kalimantan border and a major Indonesian infiltration route.
