Description
A unidentified soldier from A Company, 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (4RAR) on patrol in the dense grass and jungle somewher in the company's tactical area of operations (TAO) close to the company base at Gumbang. The soldier is carry a shortend version of the M16 and is wearing British Army basic webbing. A Company 4RAR were based at Gumbang between April and September 1966. This was the most southerly of the 4RAR company positions and was located on a ridge line close to the Sarawak-Kalimantan border and a major Indonesian infiltration route.
