A British Public Works Department (PWD) ferry carrying vehicles across a river in Borneo. A group of soldiers sitting in the back of an Army truck waiting for the ferry to dock are probably from A Company, 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (4RAR). A Company 4RAR were based at Gumbang between April and September 1966. This was the most southerly of the 4RAR company positions and was located on a ridge line close to the Sarawak-Kalimantan border and a major Indonesian infiltration route.
