Studio portrait of 1360 Private (Pte) Maurice Healy, 2nd Battalion, of Mount Morgan, Qld. A bricklayer prior to enlistment, Healy embarked from Sydney with the 2nd Reinforcements aboard HMAT Seang Bee on 11 February 1915. Pte Healy died from wounds received at Gallipoli, aged 22. His service record states that he died on 28 April 1915 at the Gallipoli Peninsula. One report on the Red Cross Missing and Wounded file states that he died whilst on the transport ship Derflingger, probably on 29 April 1915, and was buried at sea on 30 April 1915. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli. His brother, Pte John Francis Healy, 20th Battalion, was later killed in action in France on 2 May 1917, aged 22.
