Description

Looking down from the top of Courtenay Hill at two Australian MkV/1 Centurion tanks. The tanks are part of 5 Troop, C Squadron, 1 Armoured Regiment. There is also an M113A1 Fitters Carrier (top centre). The tank on the left has been fitted with an infra-red capable (IR) searchlight (although white light was the only light used in Vietnam), which is usually stored in the basket on the rear of the turret. The search light from the other Centurion is visible on the front port side sponson, sitting on top of a spare road wheel. The site is well developed, with tents, jerry cans and ration boxes clearly visible. A crew member can also be seen working in the transmission compartment.
