He enlisted on 24 May 1942 in Perth. On 27 March 1944 he was a member of the crew of a Hudson aircraft (A16-230) on an operational reconnaissance flight over the Babart and Sermata Islands. The aircraft crashed and the crew escaped to Loeang Island. After being sheltered for some time by the local inhabitants, the crew was captured by the Japanese. Flt Sgt King was taken to Ambon as a Prisoner of War, and was executed at Galala on 16 August 1944.
