Informal portrait of QX30056 Private (Pte) Clive Frederick Wilder, later of 2/25 Battalion, of Julia Creek, Qld. Pte Wilder was a labourer before enlisting in Brisbane on 5 March 1942. After training with the 7 Training Battalion, he served with the 71 Australian Anti Aircraft Company, Royal Australian Engineers, at Lytton, Qld. He was transferred to 68 Australian Anti Aircraft Company, Royal Australian Artillery, on 17 November 1942. On 16 July 1943 he was taken on strength of 2/25 Battalion and embarked from Townsville for Port Moresby on 19 July 1943. He was killed in action at Lae on 13 September 1943, at the age of 22.
