Description
Informal portrait of Arthur Kenneth Du Chateau, 5th Air Force Service Command, USAAF, standing behind a Twin-Browning .50 calibre heavy machine gun on board a Patrol Torpedo boat. Du Chateau attempted to enlist with the Royal Australian Air Force, but was rejected on the basis of several body scars that were the result of a childhood accident. In 1942 he enlisted with the 5th Air Force Service Command, and served in the Pacific until 1945.
