Studio portrait of 6904 Sergeant (Sgt) Roy John Tyler, 22nd Battalion, of Sale, Vic. A farmer before enlisting in June 1916, Sgt Tyler left Australia for England with the 19th Reinforcements, and arrived in November 1917. He was killed by a machine gun bullet during a raid on German positions at Morlancourt on 9 June 1918, aged 33.
