Relic II
Description
'Relic II' is part of a series of four prints addressing the theme of modern day conflict. Specifically, Kirkland looks at the remains of the dead, still lain where their bodies fell over 90 years ago. The works highlight the sacrifices of the men who served during the First World War; those who have not been forgotten by modern Australia. It is unknown how many more graves of valiant soldiers are yet to be discovered.
This work was drawn and printed during Kirkland's residency at the Frans Masereel Centre at Kasterlee, Belgium.
