Studio portrait of 1935A Private (Pte) Arthur Partridge Ingle, 46th Battalion, of Rosedale, Vic. A dairy farmer before enlisting on 4 February 1916, Pte Ingle embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Medic with the 3rd Reinforcements on 20 May 1916. He was killed in action on 12 October 1917, when he was hit by a shell at Passchendaele. A member of the battalion told the Red Cross that 'he was of rather quiet manner and as good a man that has died for his country.' He was 28 years old at the time of his death.
