Studio portrait of 2115 Private (Pte) Tom Baxter Joyce, 44th Battalion, of Jandakot, WA, formerly of Gateshead, England. A labourer and farrier prior to enlistment, Pte Joyce embarked aboard HMAT Suffolk (A23) on 10 October 1916. He served on the Western Front from January 1917. Pte Joyce, aged 23, was killed in action at Messines, Belgium, on 1 June 1917.
