G.Q. Weapons sleeve
Olive green canvas equipment bag designed for parachute operations. The mouth of the bag is hemmed and stitched with white cotton. It has no drawstring or any other method of sealing the bag. At the top of the bag is sewn a white cotton label containing the bag's Identification information. The label is printed with black ink and reads 'G.Q. / WEAPONS SLEEVE / FOR / CARRYING STRAPS / PERSONAL EQUIPMENT - PARACHUTIST / REF ARMY A4/AD/1854 / RAF 22C/2314 / DATE_________' The date area has been stamped in black ink '19 JAN 1966'. In the top corner of the label is a small square stamp in black ink with the following markings inside the square 'G.Q. / 101'. The sleeve of the bag is an oval shape and has been stitched down one side. The sleeve has several small holes and frayed canvas caused by wear. The floor of the bag is single layer canvas and has two small holes caused by wear.
The parachute weapons sleeve was issued to Australian forces during the 1960s. Designed to keep weapons in good order during parachute operations.
