History / Summary

Related to the service of Private Albert John Rodda who was born at Footscray, Victoria in 1922. Prior to his Second World War service, Rodda worked as a public servant in Canberra and enlisted with the militia there. While with the militia, Rodda's service saw him in action as part of Maroubra Force in New Guinea throughout 1942. In 1943, Rodda transferred to the Second AIF, joining 2/3 Battalion. Rodda took part in the 2/3rd's last campaign in New Guinea from December 1944 to August 1945. Rodda was discharged in January 1946. It is believed Rodda attained these leggings, more commonly associated with the uniform of the Light Horse, while serving with the militia in Canberra.
